In the swirl. Sit with it.

I was sitting with a woman I highly respect recently, telling her about how I'm finding it hard to accept where I'm at right now. She said this:

Sit with the discomfort.
Don't run away.
Don't lash out.
Don't try to control and improve things.
Sit with it.

How? How do I sit with it? I begged. Right now things suck. They suck. So let them suck and acknowledge that they suck right now. They will change and things will look different at some point but right now they're hard. Don't tell yourself to suck it up or to be ok with how things are. Let them suck and sit with that. Be in the swirl.

I did. Things have already lightened. I continue to be amazed at our resilience.
